Horse Illustrated reported that Racing Thoroughbreds have a 92% rate of Gastric Ulcers.
Why take the chance of ulcers when 50/50 is priced so reasonable and easy to use?
As long as horses are kept in stalls, fed grain and exercised beyond what they would do in the wild,
they will remain vulnerable to Gastric Ulcers.
Tip from Texas A&M:
Feeding your horse 2 pounds of alfalfa 1/2 hr. before race time or heavy work outs will help reduce ulcers. The calcium in the alfalfa acts like Tums reducing the acid strength and the hay helps slow the acid sloshing in the stomach.
